Bradenton Mayor Gene Brown, Palmetto Mayor Dan West and Spectrum invite you to a special community screening and discussion, starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Join community leaders, Veterans, educators and residents for a special screening of an episode from The History Channel's landmark documentary series, World War II with Tom Hanks, followed by a community discussion panel exploring the stories, sacrifices and enduring legacy of the Greatest Generation. 

A community reception will be at 5 p.m. with the 6 p.m. screening and panel discussion following at the Manatee Performing Arts Center, 502 Third Ave. W., Bradenton. There will be another screening, without the panel discussion at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Veterans, first responders and their families, caregivers and community members should attend 9 a.m. to noon June 29, 2026, at the Bradenton Convention Center, 1 Haben Boulevard, Palmetto.

Come for mental health support, community and peer connections, wellness and recovery resources, as well as information about Veterans services and benefits and educational and employment support.

Play golf and raise money for a good cause at the Play for the USA Fundraiser Golf Tournament. The event is 7 a.m. July 4th, 2026, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., at the Terra Ceia Bay Country Club, 2802 Terra Ceia Bay Boulevard, Palmetto. Proceeds benefits Tunnels to Towers. Play for just $80 per person, which includes lunch.

Contests include the longest drive, closest to the pin and putting contests.

The public is invited to the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Patriot Park. Please join Palmetto Daniel West, the Palmetto City Commission, community leaders and honored guests as they break ground on Patriot Park, a lasting tribute to our nation's 250th Anniversary. The groundbreaking is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4th, 2026.

Patriot Park will be located on 14th Avenue West in Palmetto. Palmetto is celebrating the nation's history, honor those who came before and mark the beginning of a new community gathering place for future generations.
