Bulk Collection Pilot Program
Beginning May 1, 2026, Manatee County Utilities will launch the Bulk Collection Pilot Program for unincorporated Manatee County residential customers. The pilot expands curbside bulk collection service by allowing up to two bulk items to be placed at the curb once per month on a scheduled, zone-based collection day, for a total of 12 pickups per year, with no rate change. The pilot will also provide operational data to help the County evaluate long-term bulk collection options. There are no fees for the pilot program. View the list of commonly accepted items here.
Remember: tires, appliances (white goods), and the one annual 10-cubic-yard collection all need to be scheduled in advance. You can do this by visiting your customer self-service portal at mymanatee.org/css.
What is included - an overview:
- Up to two bulk items may be placed at the curb once per month on your regular service day.
- Residents will have a scheduled bulk collection day, by zone. This information will be available on the Resident Information Tool prior to May 1.
- This provides up to 12 curbside bulk collections per year, of two items per pickup.
- There are no fees or rate changes for the pilot program.
Monthly Curbside Collection
Residents may place up to two bulk items at the curb once per month on their designated zone-based collection day, which will coincide with their regular service day. The collection day schedule will be available on the Resident Information Tool prior to May 1. This provides up to 12 curbside bulk pickups per year, with no rate change.

Scheduled Collections
To ensure the appropriate truck is dispatched, tires and appliances must be scheduled in advance. Scheduling these items does not change your assigned zoned bulk collection day, but helps ensure proper collection.
Annual Curbside Collection
In addition to monthly service, each property is eligible for one annual bulk collection, which also must be scheduled in advance. Annual collections must be 10 cubic yards or less of the same material - such as household bagged garbage, construction and demolition, unprepared yard waste (NO plastic bags accepted for yard waste), tires, etc. There will be one annual collection (per property) of 10 cubic yards or less (of the same material) for the free pilot program running from May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027.
Scheduling Information
Beginning May 1, 2026, the bulk collections requiring scheduling (annual, tires, appliances) can be submitted through the Customer Self-Service Portal at mymanatee.org/css.
Log into your CSS portal, click "Request," then "New Request."
For scheduling monthly bulks for white goods & tires: Solid Waste Cases > Residential Monthly Bulk Services
For scheduling annual bulk collections: Solid Waste Cases > Bulk Annual Pickup Request
Visit Navigating Your Customer Self-Service Portal to learn all about what you can do on your CSS portal.
Additional Bulk Collections
Residents may still schedule additional bulk collections beyond the monthly two-item service for a $59 per-item fee, or use the Resident Drop-off at the Lena Road Landfill.
Important:
The Bulk Collection Pilot Program begins May 1, 2026. Bulk collection requests made before the pilot launch will be billed at the current rates. Because of the amended contract with the waste haulers, refunds cannot be issued for items collected before May 1, 2026.
Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Scrap
No changes are being made to household hazardous waste (HHW) or electronic scrap service (E-scrap) as part of this pilot program. These materials will NOT be collected curbside and cannot be collected as part of the bulk pickup program.
Examples of E-scrap that will not be accepted in a curbside bulk collection include:
- Microwaves
- Televisions
- Cell Phones
- Lithium Batteries
- Phone Chargers
- Countertop Kitchen Appliances (Air Fryers, Toaster Ovens, Blenders)
- Gaming Consoles
- Computers
Manatee County residents may (no commercial customers):
- Drop off household hazardous waste and electronic scrap free of charge at the Lena Road Landfill Monday through Friday during normal hours.
- Drop off household hazardous waste and e-scrap on the third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Use one of the County’s four remote household hazardous waste drop-off events held each year.
- Manatee County cannot accept medical or biohazardous waste. Contact the Department of Health for proper medical waste disposal.
Please note: this is for Manatee County residents ONLY, and HHW/E-scrap can NOT be accepted by commercial customers.
