Manatee County Government + United Way Partnership

About the Partnership:

In a powerful step toward strengthening community resilience, Manatee County Government has joined forces with United Way Suncoast to launch the Manatee County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD).  This united network brings together nonprofits, faith-based groups, government agencies, and community partners committed to safeguarding our region before, during, and after disasters.  By aligning resources, expertise, and services, Manatee County COAD ensures that help reaches those who need it most—swiftly, effectively, and equitably—building a stronger, more prepared Manatee County for whatever challenges lie ahead.

Manatee County COAD operates with a guiding principle: "Blue Sky Collaboration for Gray Sky Implementation."  This means we don’t wait for disaster to strike — our network of organizations actively collaborates, plans, and strengthens relationships during calm periods, so we’re ready to respond when the skies turn gray.  By preparing in advance, we ensure a faster, more coordinated, and more effective response and recovery when it matters most.  This proactive approach empowers our entire community to better withstand, adapt to, and recover from any crisis that comes our way.
