Health Services

The Health Services Section of the Public Safety Department provides oversight for safety-net health care services and programs provided to low-income and uninsured residents of Manatee County.

County assistance is provided to partnering agencies and health providers who, in turn, ensure appropriate access to medically necessary care and services for qualified individuals. Through community partnerships, county-funded services, and state/federal match programs, Manatee County aims to provide increased access to affordable, high-quality medical and behavioral health services to those unable to purchase health insurance.

The Health Services Section provides access to health care services through the following:

  • Participation in Florida’s Low-Income Pool (LIP) for uncompensated care provided at hospitals, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), and behavioral health centers
  • Manatee County’s Indigent Health Care Plan
  • Agreements with area health provider agencies
  • Partnerships with area community health providers and clinics
  • Partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County

Non-Profit Health Care Services

Each year, Manatee County Government accepts applications from not-for-profit agencies for the provision of health care services needed by Manatee County residents.
