Manatee CARES Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Funding

Manatee County will distribute up to $70 million in CARES Act funding for costs incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The funding will be disbursed in four categories to meet the needs of residents, business owners, nonprofits, local government agencies and community partners.

Mega Pantry at State College of Florida

Feeding Tampa Bay has set up a mega food pantry for local families in need of fresh food. Feeding Tampa Bay will be prepared to serve 1,000 families with care packages that will include three-to-four days of food.

If you are experiencing any of these issues or if you are having financial stability problems because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gulfcoast Legal Services may be able to help. For eligible individuals, we can provide free civil, legal assistance with any of the following:

  • Landlord/Tenant Disputes

  • Birth Certificates (must be referred to us by a partner agency)

Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee (MOWP) is pleased to partner with Manatee County officials to offer COVID-19 Temporary Food Assistance Relief to residents in unincorporated Manatee County that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. MOWP’s COVID-19 Temporary Food Assistance Relief Program provides meals to individuals that are 62 years of age or older who are considered a vulnerable population to COVID-19 and are advised to stay at home and to isolate per the Centers for Disease Control and the White House Coronavirus Task Force. If you are in this group and wish to receive meals, please visit our website and register for our Home-delivered Meal Program or call our Client Services Department at 941.747.4655, ext. 1225 to start receiving meals.

Founded by the Manatee County Community Development Block Program in response to COVID-19, an outreach program began in 2020 to meet with individuals in homeless camps to make sure they are aware of available resources and basic needs are being met, including personal protection equipment and other items to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Visit website.

Step Up Suncoast Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP services are provided to assist families, particularly those with the lowest incomes that pay a high proportion of their household income for home energy, meet their immediate home energy needs. Visit the Step Up Suncoast LIHEAP website.
