Registration is now open for our next Lifeguard Class. Please note each of the included dates must be attended to complete this course.
- Friday, August 15: 4pm - 6pm
- Saturday, August 16: 8am - 6:30pm
- Sunday, August 17: 8am - 6:30pm

Eligibility:
Participants must be at least 15 years old before the last scheduled class session.
Swim Test
- Prerequisite 1- Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest:
- Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl and / or breaststroke
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs without stopping
- Swim 50 yards using the front crawl and / or breaststroke
- Prerequisite 2- complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 - 10 feet to retrieve a 10 - pound brick (swim goggles are not allowed)
- Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face at or near the surface
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps
- Any students who are unsure if they are able to complete these prerequisites are encouraged to visit a Manatee County Aquatic Center during lap swim hours and practice before registering for a class
Cost
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certification: $200 per student
- Red Cross Lifeguard Re-Certification: $100 per student
- Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification: $350 per student
