For the purpose of ensuring new development receives sufficient benefit for Impact Fees paid, the unincorporated area of Manatee County is divided into four geographic regions for the collection and expenditure of multimodal transportation impact fees. These Benefit Districts ensure impact fees will construct capacity improvements in the subarea where they were collected.
The four Multimodal Transportation Benefit Districts are generally described as follows:
- Northeast (NE) - The area north of the Manatee River and east of I-75
- Northwest (NW) - The area north of the Manatee River and west of I-75
- Southwest (SW) - The area south of the Manatee River and west of US 301
