Help Reduce Energy Use During Cold Weather
Cold weather can increase electricity demand. Please help your local energy provider conserve energy.
How you can help:
- Limit use of high-energy appliances.
- Lower thermostats a few degrees when possible
- Run large appliances only when necessary
You can read more information about decreasing your electricity usage from our friends at Peace River Electric Cooperative and Florida Power & Light.
Burn Ban Reminder
With cold temperatures, fire danger may not be top of mind. But dry conditions and strong winds can still increase the risk of wildfires. Manatee County remains under a burn ban, and even a small spark can spread quickly. Please avoid outdoor burning at this time for everyone’s safety. Outdoor grills and cookers are still allowed as long as they are always attended by a responsible adult while in use.
Protect Your Backflow Prevention Assembly
You can also prevent damage by protecting your backflow assembly from freezing with specially made covers or by wrapping it with a blanket or towel.
