The purpose of the Library Advisory Board is to advise and make recommendations to the Board of Manatee County Commissioners.

The Library Advisory Board consists of five members:

• One member is appointed by the City of Bradenton;
• One member is appointed by the City of Palmetto;
• Three remaining members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners:
  • A resident from the unincorporated areas of Manatee County;
  • One member from Manatee County at large;
  • A resident of either Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, or the Town of Longboat Key. This member of the board shall be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners after consideration of any recommendations by the city councils of the four island municipalities.

All appointments are for a term of four years.

Manatee County is accepting applications for two seats on the Manatee County Library Advisory Board. The openings are appointed by the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners as follows:

• A representative for Manatee County At-Large - An applicant must be a resident of Manatee County to be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.
• A representative for Unincorporated Manatee County - An applicant must be a resident of Unincorporated Manatee County to be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Each member is appointed for a term of four years. The advisory board meets on the third Wednesday of each month in the Downtown Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. W. in Bradenton.

Each applicant must submit an online application by January 5, 2025.
