Current Advisory Board Opportunities

Children's Services Advisory Board - NAACP Seat

Children's Services Advisory Board

Applications are being accepted for the NAACP-designated seat on the Children's Services Advisory Board (CSAB), which makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners about priorities and expenditures of the County's dedicated millage for children's services.

Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5.

Applications must include:

  • Advisory Board Application
  • Children’s Services Advisory Board Supplemental Questions (Page 4 of the Advisory Board Application, and 3)
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Applicants must be residents of Manatee County.
  • The vacant seat must be filled by a member of the NAACP.
  • Employees, owners or voting board members of agencies that receive funding from Manatee County, or individuals who contract with agencies that receive County funding, are not eligible to serve as a child advocate on this advisory board.


The representative will be appointed for a two-year term that ends September 30, 2020.

The CSAB meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. The board meets weekly during the annual program funding review process from April through early June; and a full day retreat in October each year.

Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board - Three Seats

Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board

Applications are being accepted for three positions on the Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board, which hears cases regarding criminal nuisances on places or premises located in unincorporated areas of the county.

The three board seats are for a two-year term beginning October 21, 2018. Applications are due Wednesday, September 21, 2018.


The Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board is composed of five members who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Applicants should be Manatee County residents who are interested in providing administrative oversight with authority to impose administrative fines and other non-criminal penalties in order to provide equitable, expeditious and effective method of enforcing ordinances in the unincorporated areas of Manatee County.

Familiarity with the County’s Nuisance Abatement ordinance is preferable.


The board meets on the second Monday of each month on an as-needed basis at 10 a.m. in the first floor chambers of Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton.

Health Council of West Central Florida - Two seats

Health Council of West Central Florida

Applications are being accepted for two seats on the Health Council of West Central Florida (HCWCF) for representatives to occupy the seats of (1) health care consumer over the age of 60 and, (2) health care provider.

Applications are due by October 2, 2018, at 3 p.m.  A resume or C.V. is also required for consideration for appointment to this advisory board. The application is available for download at the top of this page.


The HCWCF is a private non-profit agency governed by a board of directors appointed by County Commissioners to represent the concerns of health care consumers, providers, and purchasers at the local level. HCWCF serves residents in Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee and Polk counties.


Applicants should be knowledgeable about healthcare and willing to meet on the second Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Health Council offices located at 550 N. Reo Street, Tampa, Florida.

Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizen Advisory Committee - Three seats

Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizen Advisory Committee

Applications will be accepted until October 5, 2018 for: 1) one resident of unincorporated Manatee County, 2) one at-large seat representing minorities, and 3) one at-large seat representing the disabled on the Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC).


CAC members represent a general cross section of the citizens of Sarasota and Manatee counties including the cities within the counties. CAC representatives are recommended for appointment by their respective units of local government and are appointed by the MPO Board.


The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) assists the Metropolitan Planning Organization by providing input to the transportation planning process that reflects citizens' views and attitudes. 

The group meets at 5 p.m. on the second Monday of months in which an MPO meeting is scheduled.

The committee meets in the main conference room at the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization Office at 7632 15th St E, Sarasota FL 34243.
