COVID-19 Update

Manatee County Animal Services is open by appointment only. In an effort to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), MCAS has altered its operations with regards to intake at the center, in the community, and adoption of animals to patrons.

MCAS will be facilitating adoptions through appointment only. Click here to fill out an adopter profile and to schedule your appointment.

MCAS will still approve foster applications and transfer of animals to rescue. Residents can help shelter animals by signing up as an emergency foster to provide animals relief from the shelter environment. Individuals interested in fostering can do the following:

  • Sign up to be an emergency on-call foster by filling out the application.
  • MCAS will provide supplies, but we encourage fosters to start planning ahead and gathering resources in anticipation of fostering a pet. If you have specific questions about fostering, or fostering a specific pet, please email foster@mymanatee.org.
  • If you are a current Rescue Partner, or would like to become one, please contact sarah.brown@mymanatee.org

If you have lost or found a pet:

  • Submit a Lost or Found Animal Report
  • Go to Finding Rover to upload a photo of the lost or found pet. Finding Rover is a nationwide database which utilizes facial recognition to reunite lost pets with their owners.
  • Post the pet as lost or found on sites like Lost Pet Services, Nextdoor, Craigslist, and social media platforms
  • Hang flyers where the pet was lost & found, as most pets are found less than 1,000 feet from their home
  • If you have lost your pet and believe the animal is at MCAS, please call (941) 742-5933 to begin the process of reclaiming your pet
