Disclosure: Manatee County Government does not provide any direct financial assistance for housing. Presented below are the agencies that we fund for housing, homelessness, and homeless-prevention services; as well as other agencies that we do not directly fund, but that provide housing services and may be able to assist you. 

Availability of support from any agencies listed may vary and must be confirmed by contacting any agency individually.

 Notice from Lasting Manatee (CDBG-DR) to individuals interested in future individual housing assistance (click here to view the timeline for Lasting Manatee programs): 

Please be sure that you keep records of any of the following items related to your personal home for potential reimbursement of disaster-recovery activities following the 2024 hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton: 
  • Receipts from in-progress or completed home repairs or replacements 
  • Paperwork related to insurance claims (such as insurance for homeowners, flood, renter’s, etc.) related to your personal home 
  • Paperwork related to timely payment of mortgages, home taxes, or liens related to your personal home 
  • Paperwork related to disaster relief applications with FEMA and/or any other assistance agency

   Manatee County Government Resources

Manatee County Community and Veterans Services (CVS) Department’s Housing Replacement and Rehabilitation Programs (closed/waitlisted as of 5/28/25) 

While Manatee County does offer a Homeowner Replacement and Rehabilitation Program (funded by the State Housing Initiatives Partnership- SHIP, the Community Development Block Grant – CDBG as well as the HOME Investment Partnership Program), the application cycle is currently closed. However, our CVS team would be happy to take your information and add your name to our list of interested participants. This will ensure you are notified when the next funding cycle becomes available. Contact the CVS Community Development Division for more information by calling 941-749-3030. Salvation Army: provides emergency overnight shelter, case management services, adult rehabilitation, community dinner and financial assistance for utility or rental payments.

Emergency Shelter Notes: 

  • Individuals seeking shelter must be 18 years of age or accompanied by a parent/guardian 
  • Intake begins each night at 6pm and ends at 8pm or when capacity is reached 
  • Emergency shelter clients must depart at 6am (women/families) or 7am (men) 
  • Manatee County residents with a state issued ID receive three free nights 
  • A fee of $15/night will be charged for anyone entering the shelter after the free nights have been used.  
Turning Points: provides day resource services (such as hot showers, laundry services, clothing and food), employment services, rental and utility assistance, veteran’s services (employment & housing), and free medical and dental care for the uninsured.

Suncoast 211: provides free and confidential assistance, connecting you to a 211 specialist who will listen, identify underlying problems, tackle root causes and connect people to community resources and services.

Step Up Suncoast: provides a wide variety of services and programs over a five-county area: Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee, Manatee and Sarasota. Programs range from early childhood education to energy assistance to income tax preparation.
