Notice of Public Meeting on the Intent to Seek Community Development Block Building Grant Disaster Recovery Funding
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of County Commissioners of Manatee County, Florida will hold a public hearing on the 20th day of May, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter in the Commission Chambers on the First Floor of the Manatee County Government Administrative Center, located at 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida 34205, to discuss possible application to Rebuild Florida Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program (HMGMP) Application for the Manatee County R. Dan Nolan Middle School, Generator grant award.
The background information about this agenda item:
- The Florida Department of Commerce (Florida Commerce) allocated $82 million to the Rebuild Florida Hurricane Ian Hazard Mitigation Grant Match Program (HMGMP) to assist local government eligible for Florida Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) which requires a 25% local match.
- On February 10, 2025, the County received notice from FEMA that the R. Dan Nolan Middle School, Generator funding request was approved and requires the County to provide $1,015,520.00 in local funding.
- FloridaCommerce has informed the County of their intent to award local match funding for the Manatee County R. Dan Nolan Middle School, Generator as part of the HMGMP.
- To verify project eligibility for the match program an application and other documents must be completed and submitted to FloridaCommerce.
- R. Dan Nolan Middle School is the County’s special needs shelter and relies on a temporary generator during storm season. To ensure reliable power is always available to support the County’s vulnerable population, there is a need to install a permanent generator. This project will include the design, permit, and construction of a permanent generator with automatic transfer switch at this critical shelter facility. The proposed project cost is $4,062,080.

Glass Chambers, Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida, to consider, act upon, enact, or reject the following matter:
The Board of County Commissioners of Manatee County, Florida, proposes to adopt the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE 25-29
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MANATEE COUNTY, FLORIDA, RELATING TO COURT COSTS; AMENDING CHAPTER 2-2, ARTICLE I, SECTIONS 2-2-4.1 AND 2-2-4.5 OF THE MANATEE COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES; MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; SUPERSEDING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
