Gary Sinise Foundation to Award Smart Home
Join medically retired Marine JT Doody and his mom Chris Ott as they are presented with a new smart home thanks to the Gary Sinise Foundation. A dedication ceremony has been scheduled for 10 a.m. July 16, 2026, at the residence, 1617 148th Terrace East, Parrish.
The Marine was shot several times by snipers. Having recovered from those wounds, he was re-injured when a bacterial infection around his heart triggered a series of strokes that caused a coma for several months. The results left Doody with severe brain injuries, quadriplegia, and cognitive blindness. His recovery is called remarkable. The new, mortgage-free home is custom-designed to Doody's individual needs. These amenities will improve his independence and self-reliance, relieving stress on his mother.
