Friends 2026 Travel & Lecture Series: "Miguel's Bay: The Pioneer Tale of Miguel & Frederica Guerrero"
Miguel’s Bay is based on true family stories of the early settlers of Terra Ceia Island. Author Peggy Donoho is a 5th generation Manatee County resident and is the great-great granddaughter of Miguel and Frederica Guerrero. A graduate of the University of Florida, Peggy has been active with several local historical associations and has volunteered at the Florida Maritime Museum in historic Cortez fishing village. Ron Prouty is a graduate of Ringling School of Art & Design and a recently retired, multi-media graphic designer with the Tampa Bay Times. He is a lifelong resident of Manatee County and a former member of the Manatee County Historical Commission. Doors open at 1:30 PM. Sponsored by the Friends of the Island Library
