Join County staff and fellow volunteers for an adventurous trek to the heart of Duette Preserve to collect the cones of the longleaf pine!  Once common throughout the Southeastern United States, decades of logging and deforestation have greatly reduced the range of the longleaf pine in Florida. Seeds collected during this volunteer event will be used to grow new pines for future restoration projects throughout Manatee County. Program is suitable for volunteers 16 and older.Volunteers must have their own vehicle that can handle off-road terrain for transport within the Preserve. Reservations are required.
