NATURE NIGHT AT THE NEST: THE CABBAGE PALM

What do you know about our state tree, the cabbage palm? Aren’t they just a big grass? Can you do anything with them? Is it even a tree? Join natural historian Jono Miller ina wide-ranging and surprising exploration of what these common native palms are all about. Jono will cover their unique approach to growth, a number of counterintuitive paradoxes, the wide variety of wildlife species that utilize them, and the curious cracker dish called swamp cabbage. Jono will share how cabbage palms are threatened by both bacteria that lack a cell wall and well-intentioned over-pruning practices that may be preferred by your HOA.
