CITIZEN SCIENCE TEA BAG EXTRAVAGANZA: THE UNEARTHING

Wetland soils hold one of the highest concentration of soil carbon on Earth, and scientist are currently studying how the excess carbon affects or impacts the ecosystem. Join us for the second part of this citizen science volunteer experience to study carbon in soils across several Manatee County Preserves. Volunteers will travel in groups to dig up tea bags in sites around the county for further study. These data will be shared as part of the global citizen science effort called the Tea Bag Index that aims to understand soil carbon storage in ecosystems around the world. Please note that this event will require walking into mangroves, crouching, and digging. http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=e6budacab&oeidk=a07efmpmhck782d6ebc Program sponsored by Tampa Bay Estuary Program and Sarasota Bay Estuary Program.
