About Radio

The system serves as the primary means of communications for Law Enforcement, EMS, Fire/Rescue as well as wireless voice/data traffic for the BOCC and non-BOCC Depatments throughout Manatee County.

The infrastructure section is responsible for maintaining and operating the radio network to 99.999% of up time as the standard. In other words, the system cannot be down for more than 5 minutes and 15.6 seconds a year. The Manatee network consists of twelve radio communication tower sites and eighteen 911 radio dispatch consoles in three dispatch centers. This significant investment proved invaluable by evidence of the recent series of Hurricane activations. While sustaining 140 plus mph winds at tower height, the system continued to operate providing seamless and uninterrupted communications for our public safety community throughout the event. This translated into countless resources being available for the protection of life and property of our citizens.

The Radio Division section is responsible for maintaining and repairing approximately 5,000 radio devices for over 88 inside and outside agencies. They also provide services such as:

  • Wireless communications engineering
  • Technical support
  • Local repair facility

The mission of the Radio Services Division is to provide our customers with the most reliable radio communications network possible; allowing first responders the tools necessary to better serve the community in their moments that matter
