Celebrate America 250 with the Library!

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, and our library is joining the nationwide celebration with programs that help our community explore, reflect, and connect. Throughout the year, we’ll offer historical programs for all ages, hands-on activities for children and families, themed displays, and curated book selections that highlight the people, events, and stories that shaped our nation. These resources give patrons a chance to learn something new, appreciate multiple perspectives, and better understand how our shared history continues to influence the present. By participating in America 250 events at the library, our community can honor the past while inspiring curiosity and conversation for the future.

Letters to the Future (May - September)

As part of our America 250 programming, our library is creating a community time capsule to be opened in 2076. You’re invited to write a letter that captures your personal story, reflections on the nation’s past, your American experience, or your hopes for the future. Consider using the guiding theme “We the People” for inspiration. Visit our Letters to the Future table to submit your letter and become part of our community’s history.

This project is designed for all ages, encouraging individuals and families to imagine what life might look like 50 years from now. Whether you choose to write about your daily life, your hopes for the community, or what you value most today, your words will offer a meaningful snapshot for future generations to discover.
