Donating to the Library

Thank you for considering a donation to support the Library! Generous donations from the community, made in a variety of ways, help the Library and its support groups continue their mission to provide excellent materials and services to Manatee County.

Monetary donations:

  • Monetary contributions help the Library purchase books or other materials! Please use the Gift Designation Form if you would like your contribution attributed to a specific collection or location. Please email the library to request a Gift Designation Form.
  • You may also make a monetary donation to any Friends of the Library group (supports specific locations) or to the Library Foundation of Manatee County (supports the entire library system).
  • If you would like to support the purchase of a new item in someone's honor, please use the Gift Designation Form. The library will provide a gift acknowledgment letter and memorial bookplate if requested.

Material donations:

Manatee Library does not accept material donations directly to staff. However, the Friends of the Library groups at several locations will take donations directly (donations must be given to the Friends volunteers, rather than library staff).

  • Braden River, Palmetto, and Rocky Bluff Library Friends: items may be dropped off anytime the location is open.
  • Central Library Friends: donations may be dropped off at the Book Store during the store's open hours.  Please call ahead to (941) 748-5555 ext. 6322 for bookstore hours.
  • Lakewood Ranch Library Friends: fill out an online donation form to start the process
  • Friends' bookstores prefer recently published books and audiovisual materials in good condition. They reserve the right to dispose of, exchange, or sell any items.
  • The Friends do not conduct pick-up from homes or businesses.
  • Friends’ book sales and bookstores extend the ability to purchase additional library materials and fund library programs.

    Thank you for giving!
