About Animal Welfare

The mission of Manatee County Animal Welfare (MCAW) is to maintain public safety and health through the enforcement of laws and ordinances related to animals, promote responsible pet ownership, promote adoptions and reduce pet overpopulation. MCAW operates three animal shelters: The Bishop Animal Shelter, Palmetto Animal Shelter, and Cat Town. They host several annual events for animal vaccinations and adoption.

  • Holds a 94% shelter save rate
  • Has responded to over 8,000 Animal Service Requests this year
