Ranching Foundations- Manatee
We invite new and aspiring cattle producers to join us to learn more about building a strong foundation in beef cattle production.
Join the UF/IFAS South Florida Beef-Forage Program for the Ranching Foundations Program, an educational evening designed to provide new and experienced cattle producers with practical tools and resources for building a successful ranching operation.
Registration and meal begins at 5:30 p.m., with the program starting promptly at 6:00 p.m.
The Ranching Foundations Program is sponsored by the University of Florida/IFAS South Florida Beef-Forage Program. This program is part of a continuing multi-county educational effort to help South-Central Florida producers raise and market more high-quality beef cattle, per cow and per acre, while improving the profitability and sustainability of their operations.
Participants will learn about:
- Building a ranch business plan and developing budgets
- Assessing pasture conditions and productivity
- Pasture fertility and cattle nutrition
- Cost-share opportunities and available agricultural resources
- A beginner rancher checklist to support long-term success
Throughout the evening, UF/IFAS Extension agents will share practical information and available resources to help producers improve pasture management, increase forage production, and better meet the nutritional needs of their cattle.
Registration includes dinner and educational materials.
Anyone wishing to participate who may need special accommodations should contact Chriista Kirby at ccarlson@ufl.edu at least two weeks prior to the event.
The University of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Institution.
