Friends 2026 Travel & Lecture Series: "Getting to Know the Florida Crackers"
An 8th generation native Floridian, Carol Ann Felts is of both “conch” and “cracker” descent. (If you don’t know what these terms mean, then you must attend!) Originally from Miami, she grew up in a family of public servants. She began her first career in cost accounting and production planning. After raising her family in west Bradenton, Carol retired and relocated herself and her horses to Myakka where she is an avid Florida history buff, amateur genealogist and full-time animal concierge with a keen interest in agriculture, local politics and the environment. She now serves as Manatee County Commissioner, representing District 1. Carol Ann loves telling stories of how our state grew from an unforgiving swamp to the paradise we know today – and why it is important to preserve it for generations to come. Doors open at 1:30 PM.
