Friends 2025 Lecture & Travel Series: American Rock and Roll in 1955

David Milberg morphs into his 1950s-era DJ "Radio Dave" persona and takes vou back to 1955 to spotlight how the songs that radio stations played – and their young audiences heard -- rocked America. Although Rock & Roll had been evolving for many years, its generally accepted “birth certificate” reads the year, 1955. At its outset, Rock & Roll was a musical genre that gave a voice to America’s youth. And they used that voice to impact our country’s general societal norms, economy, politics, race relations, rural/urban cultural interactions, the changing roles of women, sexual freedom.
