Outdoor Living Skills And Wilderness Survival Workshop

Join us for the day at Rye Preserve as we discuss and practice basic outdoor living skills and wilderness survival techniques. Learn the 7 priorities of wilderness survival and how to achieve them. Topics will include the psychological aspects of survival, common medical problems and basic first aid, the design and construction of emergency shelters; including proper knots and lashings, how to build a knee high fire using flint and steel, procurement of water using various methods; including preparation for safe drinking, signaling techniques for rescue, and more! Participants will leave with the skills and knowledge necessary to help themselves and others in Florida's backcountry. Please bring a bag lunch and plenty of water. Wear long pants, a comfortable shirt, and closed toe shoes. Sunscreen, bug spray, and a hat are recommended. Program limited to 10 participants, 18 years or older. Reservations are required.
