Crochet Coral Reef Creation

Who knew knitting and crochet could be so important to science? Biologists, mathematicians, and crafters have joined together to produce a work that combines all three disciplines in a fascinating replica of a coral reef. Our reef was first debuted in the Robinson Valentine House in 2011, and we will be displaying the reef again at the Manatee County Fair in January. Join us for a series of workshops where we learn the basic techniques to create marine life using yarn, and create unique donations for our reef. Beginners and experienced crocheters/knitters alike are welcome. Patterns will be available, but original designs are encouraged. Participants must bring their own knitting needles, crochet hooks, and yarn - although some will be available for use. Program suitable for all ages.
Please call 941-748-4501 ext. 6035 to register.
