NEW! Homeschool Science Club: Playing in the Pines
Pine forests are historically and ecologically among the dominant ecosystems in Florida and the South. Today very little virgin pine forest remains. What’s so great about this once vast biome? In this program we will explore arts and culture related to pines in Florida, but will also dive into the science behind ecological communities, tree research, and environmental relationships and change. After collecting their own field data, participants will use math and the scientific method to answer questions about problems facing Florida pine forests and the other plants and animals who live there. Program suitable for children ages 6 and older.
