Now You See Me, Now You Don't: Defense Strategies of Butterflies and Moths

To escape being snatched and eaten takes many forms in order to survive. Surprising defenses are displayed by caterpillars and adults, and even by chrysalises and cocoons. Camouflage, motions, warning coloration, mimics, false heads, and hiding shelters are a few of the innate tactics that help butterflies and moths survive. Volunteer Karen Finch will share images and videos of these unique adaptive strategies of butterflies and moths. Program sponsored by Manatee County Library System in cooperation with NRD. Program suitable for all ages. Please let us know if you would like to attend. Please call 941-748-4501 ext. 4616.
