Overview
Our Traffic Engineering team is responsible for reviewing all development proposals related to transportation concerns. This includes assessing traffic flow, access points, signage, pavement markings, and safety features. We carefully evaluate the transportation impact of proposed developments, considering factors such as:
- Traffic volume (e.g., 5 or 500 trips during the PM peak hour)
- Roadway network configuration (e.g., collector, arterial roads)
- Access type, configuration, and location (e.g., right in/right out, full access)
- Safety assessments (e.g., intersection sight distance, visibility triangles, turning movements)
- Operational analysis (e.g., Level of Service, delays, and turn lane requirements)
Duties:
- Access Spacing: We evaluate the proposed and existing access spacing, ensuring it is appropriately located and designed relative to nearby intersections.
- Turn Lanes: We assess the need for turn lanes, considering factors like lane length, location, roadway geometry, and both operational and safety aspects.
- Signing, Pavement & Markings: We review the design and placement of signs and pavement markings, considering size, color, location, and intended function.
- Visibility Triangles: We ensure that sightlines at intersections and access points are clear of obstructions such as trees, structures, and signs.
