MANATEE COUNTY, FL (September 3, 2025) — Manatee County Government is hosting a ribbon cutting and Open House to celebrate the grand opening of Under One Roof Gateway South, a new shelter and recovery center dedicated to helping women overcome addiction, homelessness and trauma—by providing a safe, healing environment and critical supportive services in one location.
The event will be held on October 1, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Under One Roof Gateway South Shelter, 407 57th Ave. E., Bradenton, FL. Under One Roof Gateway South – which will be staffed and programmed through Helping Up Mission (HUM), will complement other regional partners, such as Turning Points, Centerstone, the Salvation Army and Fresh Start Manatee, helping to build a coordinated, compassionate continuum of care in Manatee County.
“This project turns a former Sheriff’s Office building into a center of profound healing,” said Commissioner Amanda Ballard, who has championed the effort on behalf of the Manatee Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). “We’ve come a long way—together—with the shared commitment of transforming lives and building a gateway to lasting hope.”
“Helping Up Mission is honored to take the lead in this model collaborative partnership to meet an emergent shelter need for women in Manatee County and also offer a bridge into our long-term addiction recovery program,” said Daniel Stoltzfus, HUM CEO. “We are grateful for the solution-oriented focus of Manatee County in meeting these community needs.”
Funded in part by opioid settlement dollars, as well as HUD’s HOME-ARP Program and County contributions, the facility includes:
