Graham’s mother, aunt and two former coworkers surprised her at the award ceremony, making the honor an extra special occasion.

“The award meant that I must be doing my job the right way and that I’m having a positive impact on people,” Graham said. “It makes me want to continue to work harder and make a difference.”

She gave credit to her coworkers who make great teammates and to her supervisors who have consistently proven to be good examples of hard work and dedication during Graham’s career.

“My bosses encourage and support me on every level,” Graham said. “The award was for all of us because I couldn’t do my job without all of their support.”

Probation Services Manager Jennifer Burgh said Graham is a model employee and an engaged member of the community.

“Shenica is the person that everyone wants to work with because she brings positivity and grace to work each day,” said Probation Services Manager Jennifer Burgh. “She can be called upon in any situation due to her professionalism, trustworthiness and dependability.”

Graham is one of Manatee’s six probation officers and she oversees a caseload of more than 200 clients. She works with Manatee’s Special Response Team which goes into the community to make sure clients are complying with court-ordered conditions. She was hired as a Manatee County probation officer in 2011. Prior to that, she worked in corrections roles on Florida’s east coast. Manatee’s Probation Services group oversees 800 clients a month. Last year probationers performed more than 46,000 hours of community service and paid $36,000 in restitution costs.
