2021 Redistricting

View maps of current and proposed districts

Florida law requires the Board of County Commissioners to divide the county into five districts with adjoining borders as nearly equal in population as is practical. The 2020 U.S. Census revealed the population of Manatee County increased by 32.8% to 399,710 people. It also revealed that growth in the eastern and northern portions of the County was much more rapid than in other areas.

Proposed Redistricting Plans

The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners at its Regular Meeting on November 16, 2021, directed staff to prepare and publicize two redistricting plans for consideration at the Regular Meeting on December 14, 2021, named "Plan A1" and "Plan B." On December 2, 2021, the Board directed staff to prepare and publicize a substitute plan proposed by Commissioner Kruse. “Plan B1” is proposed in place of Plan B and as an alternative to Plan A1. The plans will be considered at the Board’s Regular Meeting on December 14, 2021.
