As a recipient of US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds, Manatee County is required to develop an Annual Action Plan to carry out projects that address the priority needs identified in the 2023-2027 Consolidated Plan. Manatee County anticipates receiving about $2.5 million from HUD for its Program Year 2024-2025 Annual Action Plan to primarily serve low-to-moderate income households and other special populations such as individuals experiencing homelessness, vulnerable children, senior citizens, and individuals living with disabilities. Manatee County residents and, in particular, public housing residents, public and private agencies, businesses, and other interested parties are invited and encouraged to attend so they may voice their concerns and express their opinions on the community's priority needs. The topics to be discussed include affordable housing development and homeownership, healthy neighborhoods, health and human services, homeless shelter development and strategies to address homelessness, recreational opportunities, infrastructure improvements, planning, and public management.

The Public Hearing will also solicit comments on the development of the County's 2024 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) Report. The AI Report aims to determine the possible existence of impediments to fair housing choices based upon race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability. If any impediments are identified, communities are directed to suggest necessary steps to reduce and eliminate barriers that prevent methods to affirmatively further fair housing. County residents are encouraged to comment on the AI Report by attending the public hearing or writing comments to the Manatee County Community & Veterans Services Department at the address provided below.

Application Workshop

Manatee County is also inviting all non-profit agencies serving Manatee County residents with housing, public services, and community development needs to join our Grant Application Workshop. The Workshop will give details and answer questions regarding the application for the expected $2.5Million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) & HOME Investment Partnership Programs (HOME) Manatee County anticipates receiving from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for FY 24/25.

CDBG and HOME grants may fund projects and programs that address the priority needs of the community related to healthy neighborhoods, economic development, home ownership & affordable housing development, health and human services, strategies for the homeless, recreational opportunities, infrastructure improvements, planning and public management.

This year, Manatee County is also soliciting applications for two special funding sources under the Community Development Block Grant – CARES Act (CDBG-CV), HOME Investment Partnership Programs – American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP). Special focus of the CDBG-CV and HOME-ARP grants will be given to strategies to serve individuals and families living in homeless shelters and future projects to assist vulnerable Manatee County residents.
