Veteran saluting MANATEE COUNTY, FL (November 2, 2023) – Manatee County Government offices and all Manatee County libraries will be closed Friday, November 10, 2023, to commemorate Veterans Day.

“Veterans Day is a very special day in our country and Manatee County salutes all those who’ve served as we remember all the sacrifices that our veterans have made for our great nation,” said Manatee County at-large Commissioner Jason Bearden. “To all the veterans out there, your dedication and service—and the daily sacrifice you have made—will never be forgotten and is a constant reminder that freedom is never free.”

Bradenton Kiwanis Annual Veterans Appreciation Lunch
Tuesday, November 7
Doors open 11:15 a.m.
Program begins Noon sharp. Manatee Performing Arts Center, 502 3rd Ave. W., Bradenton

A Salute to Veterans
Thursday, November 9
9:00 to 9:45 a.m.
Jessie P. Miller Elementary School, 601 43rd St. W., Bradenton.
A performance by fourth-grade students.

Anna Maria Island Old Soldiers & Sailors Veterans Day Parade
Friday, November 10
9:00 a.m.

Manatee County Veterans Council Veterans Day Parade
Saturday, November 11
9:30 a.m.
Steps off at Manatee County Fairgrounds and proceeds south on 11th Avenue, ending at Sutton Park. Grand Marshall is 105-year-old Army veteran John Skeen. An Annual Veterans’ Day Memorial Service at Sutton Park follows at 11 a.m. This year's keynote speaker will be former Director of Manatee County Veteran’s Services and Acting County Administrator Lee Washington.

Sarasota National Cemetery Catholic Memorial Mass
Saturday, November 11
Opening Ceremonies begin at 2:45 p.m. Mass begins at 3 p.m. Sarasota National Cemetery 9810 State Highway 72, Sarasota
This is the 14th annual Veterans Day Diocese of Venice Catholic Mass.

Reschedules

Trash, recycling and yard waste collections for the week are NOT impacted by the Veterans Day holiday and will follow the normal collection schedule.

Manatee County Library branches will be closed on Friday, November 10, but will reopen Saturday, November 11.

Manatee County parks and beaches and natural preserves will be open to the public. The G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be open November 10 and 11 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The C.V. Walton Center will be closed. All check-ins for racquet sports, basketball and pool will be at the recreation center. The Manatee County Golf Course will be open, but the Buffalo Creek Golf Course will be closed.

Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT), the Anna Maria Island Trolley and the Longboat Key Shuttle and regular weekday Handy Bus will operate as normal.
