Appointed by Governor DeSantis to the Board of County Commissioners in August of 2023, Commissioner Ray Turner is no stranger to Manatee County. He has been a resident for over 20 years, owns a business, has been active in the community and has served on the Manatee County Planning Commission. Turner brings with him a depth of knowledge, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit, with a background in finance and real estate.

As the District 5 Commissioner, Turner currently acts as the Board of County Commissioner's Second Vice Chair. He is also the Second Vice Chair for the Manatee County Port Authority. Commissioner Turner presently represents the Board of County Commissioners on the Executive Board of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) and the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), and he serves as the Chairman on the Tourism Development Council (TDC).
