MANATEE COUNTY, FL (July 15, 2015) – One of Manatee County’s largest animal adoption events ever will be held in two weeks. The first Adopt-A-Palooza will be Saturday, Aug. 1 and Sunday, Aug. 2 at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, 1 Haben Blvd., Palmetto.

Hours on Saturday are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.

The pet-friendly event is free and open to the public. There will be more than 100 adoptable puppies, dogs, cats and kittens to choose from. All pets will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Manatee County Animal Services Director Bill Hutchison hopes to find forever homes for 50 dogs and 25 cats.

“If you are looking for a pet or want to learn more about pet care, this is the event you want to attend,” Hutchison said. “And even though the event is free, we’re asking people to help feed hungry pets by bringing donations of dog or cat food.”

Adopt-A-Palooza will be an expo-style event. There will be raffles, nail trims, dog washing and a fly ball tournament both days. Pet owners can sign up for low cost or free spay/neuter for their animals. Manatee County license tags will be for sale. Specialty retailers and fun pet vendors will offer pet-related products and services.

Local trainers will be on hand with live demonstrations, helpful tips and information. Local animal professionals will share their expertise on pet-related topics including pet care and animal advocacy.
