Manatee accepting applications for Tourist Development Council

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (April 23, 2015) – Manatee County is accepting applications through June 1 for one opening on the Tourist Development Council (TDC) which makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on the expenditures of tourism tax revenues.

 The position will fill a seat of a member who is vacating the seat. The term expires June 30, 2017.


The TDC is comprised of nine volunteer members who make recommendations to the Board on the effective operation of the projects set forth in the Tourist Development Plan and the uses for which tourism tax revenues may be spent.


Eligible applicants include owners/operators or general managers of motels, hotels, RV parks or other tourist accommodations in Manatee County that are subject to the 5 percent resort tax in Manatee County.  All applicants must be registered voters in Manatee County.

The Tourist Development Council typically meets on the third Monday of every other month at 9 a.m. at various locations throughout Manatee County.
