Fleet Services is an internal services division that operates a county-wide fleet management program. The division consists of three geographically separated repair and service facilities with three parts distribution centers supporting management and maintenance services for vehicle and construction equipment items. They collect and analyze data such as vehicle repair, utilization, and life cycle cost, while managing the vehicle replacement process to maintain a safe efficient vehicle fleet.

Fleet Services is a customer service organization which operates as an internal service fund providing vehicle and equipment maintenance for all vehicles and construction equipment that currently comprise the fleet under the direction of the Board of County Commissioners. The division operates four separate maintenance facilities with a material distribution center located at each. The division is staffed by highly trained professionals experienced in vehicle and equipment maintenance and management. Services include maintenance and repair, replacement planning, specification and purchase coordination, field services, operation and care instruction, as well as many other integrated services included with total fleet management programs, and specialized services such as driver care instruction and vehicle wash areas.

 

Fleet Services administrative offices are located within the 26th Avenue East (Central) facility which includes a full service maintenance operation, and associated full service material distribution center. This facility is charged with maintenance and repair of units including emergency vehicles, transit buses, construction and agriculture equipment and general service vehicles. The 66th Street West facility (West) is charged with maintenance and repair of units including water and sewer trucks and equipment, construction and agriculture equipment, and general service vehicles which also includes a full service material distribution center. The Lena Road facility (East) is charged with maintenance and repair of units including heavy specialized off road landfill equipment, agriculture equipment, and general service vehicles. An un-manned material distribution center operates at this facility controlled by material staff from the 26th Ave facility. Fleet’s fourth facility, 65th St. West is charged with maintenance and repair of units designated as small engine & light turf equipment from chain saws to hydraulic mowers and other specialized turf equipment. An un-manned material distribution center operates at this facility controlled by material staff from the 26th Ave and 66th St. facilities.

 

This division also includes fuel services which provides fuel for County vehicles and equipment, and ensures the availability of fuel in the event of a disaster or emergency. Fuel Services maintains and monitors Fuel Tanks including generator tanks, turf tanks, mobile vehicle tanks, and fixed vehicle fueling sites, and annually the division dispenses more than two million gallons of fuel to using agencies. The division also supports Public Safety contingency deployment fuel needs, along with all Manatee County Departments, and "22" outside agencies.
