At the July 23, 2019, regular board meeting, several County Commissioners and several citizens expressed concerns about an increase in panhandling and panhandlers’ threatening conduct within Manatee County and the City of Bradenton. The Board instructed the County Attorney’s Office to look into ways to regulate panhandling, to include examining other local ordinances in the State of Florida.
Assistant County Attorney Katharine Zamboni will present a draft ordinance, information on pedestrian safety, and research information from other local governments.
