Adoption of Ordinance No. 16-08, amending Article II of Chapter 2-21 of the Manatee County Code, regarding noise.
Article II, Section 7, Constitution of the State of Florida
The County Attorney’s Office has advised the Board of County Commissioners (the "Board”) of the need to amend and restate Article II of Chapter 2-21 of the Manatee County Code regarding noise, to reflect recent changes in the law and to clarify the ordinance, such that the ordinance will withstand a legal challenge.
A public work session was held on July 27, 2016. Present were representatives of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the State Attorney’s Office and Manatee County Code Enforcement officials. During the work session, several commissioners expressed a desire to modify the noise decibel limits and fee schedule for noise violations. At the conclusion of the work session, the County Attorney’s Office was instructed to prepare an alternative draft ordinance (“Draft #2”) to address these concerns.
