White Cane Day - October 15, 2017

Adopt Proclamation designating October 15, 2017, as "White Cane Day" in Manatee County, Florida.
October 15 of each year is recognized as National White Cane Day.
The White Cane Law legalized the right of people who are blind and visually impaired, as well as others with disabilities, to access the streets and highways of this nation.
Manatee County Council of the Blind, Southeastern Guide Dogs, Lighthouse of ManaSota, Division of Blind Services, and Lion's Club International are sponsoring a walk on October 19, 2017, to celebrate the White Cane Law. This walk begins at the historic Courthouse and continues down Old Main Street to Bradenton City Hall.
