Adopt Resolution R-17-038.

Enabling/Regulating Authority
F.S.S. 320.08058(12)

Background Discussion
  • In 1993, R-93-035 was adopted.  It authorized the County Administrator to designate the Manatee County Cultural Alliance as the arts agency of record.
  • Having the designation "arts agency of record" allowed that organization to receive the county's Arts specialty license plate funds.
  • In 2016, the Manatee County Cultural Alliance closed its doors and is now defunct.
  • F.S.S. 320.08058(12) authorizes the County Administrator, in the event no local arts council exists within the county, to designate an agency within the county to be the arts agency of record.
  • Once the CVB is designated as the arts agency of record, the CVB can then begin receiving the Arts specialty license plate funds.  The Arts specialty license plate funds can only be used to support arts organizations, arts programs, and arts activities within the county.
