Background Discussion

Change Order Three (3) to Work Assignment 54, Master Agreement 11-1569BG, will provide additional field investigations, design, and constructions services for the construction of a supplemental cutoff wall, replacements approach walls, and repairs to the downstream stilling basin and discharge apron at the lake Manatee Dam service spillway.

Procurement History

On November 8, 2017, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Master Agreement 11-1569BG with Carollo Engineers, Inc. of Sarasota, FL to provide Utilities Engineer of Record services. This Master Agreement was established for the purpose of conducting studies and preparing reports regarding maintenance and operation of existing facilities, systems, and connections; performing rate studies and providing technical assistance on all utility issues, operational, technical, engineering, and financial issues, including but not limited to bond refinancing, grant funding, loans, and bond issues related to utility systems.

On July 27, 2015, the County approved Work Assignment 54 to provide preliminary investigation and design services associated with Phase II repairs to the Lake Manatee Dam and its appurtenant structures for a total cost of $570,012.00.

On October 20, 2015, the County approved Change Order No. One (1) to Work Assignment 54 to install four (4) additional piezometers to monitor the pumping tests associated with the Phase II repair preliminary design. The potential need for the additional piezometers was identified in the Consultant's original Scope of Services Phase and was confirmed during hydrogeological modeling at existing wells during Phase II repair preliminary design field investigations increasing the total amount by $30,316.00 for a revised total amount of $600,328.00.

On April 4, 2017, the County approved Change Order No. Two (2) to Work Assignment 54 Master Agreement 11-1569BG to conduct additional field investigations, perform additional engineering analysis, prepare 90% and final design documents, provide permitting services, and provide bidding phase services and construction phase services increasing the total amount by $615,994.00 for a revised cost of $1,216,322.00.
