Background Discussion
  • The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is sponsoring the Symphony on the Sand event (up to $32,500) to help with the costs of entertainers, staging, sound, and lighting.
  • The event will be held on November 11, 2017, at Coquina Beach and is being promoted and marketed regionally to drive tourists to the Bradenton Area during a non-peak season.
  • This is a budgeted item included in the CVB's 2018 budget, which the Tourist Development Council unanimously recommended approval on June 19, 2017; and was ultimately approved by the Board of County Commissioners on September 18, 2017.
  • All funds involved are tourism taxes, NOT ad valorem taxes.
