Background Discussion
  • On December 19, 2000, Manatee County acquired the property via Tax Deed recorded in Official Records Book 1659, Page 6692, Public Records of Manatee County, Florida.  Tax Deed Docket 1436.
  • A jurisdictional review was completed and no objections were received.
  • The 2016 tax assessed value is $7,800.00.
  • On March 28, 2017, a citizen visited Property Acquisition to inquire about purchasing the county-owned, vacant lot at 725 65th Avenue East.  In order to sell the property, it must first be declared as surplus.
  • On June 20, 2017, Resolution R-17-065 was brought before the Board of County Commissioners. Action to surplus the property was deferred until further information could be provided to the Board of County Commissioners. In response to this request, a Memo was forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners on  September 25, 2017, outlining the process for surplussing and how decisions were made in reference to Affordable Housing.
  • Upon adopting R-17-065, said parcel will be designated surplus, advertised, and sold to the highest bidder in accordance with the Surplus Lands Ordinance 14-26 and Florida Statute 125.35.
