Approval for County Administrator to sign a Tier 3 Interconnection Agreement by and between Manatee County and Florida Power & Light (FPL).
Section 125.01, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 63-1598, Laws of Florida, as amended.
The Utilities Department plans installation of a landfill gas fired engine generator set capable of producing 1.6 megawatts per hour. The power generated is expected to offset 95% of the power demands of the Southeast Waste Water Treatment Plant. The subject agreement defines responsibilities between Florida Power & Light (FPL) and Manatee County Government for interconnection to the FPL grid system. Interconnection to the FPL grid ensures power needs of the Waste Water Plant at all times. Utilities Department expects to realize a savings of approximately $650,000.00 annually.
