Emergency Medical Services Week - May 18-24, 2014

Adopt Proclamation designating May 18-24, 2014, as "Emergency Medical Services Week" in Manatee County.
Conforms with Section 2, pages 1-11 of the Manatee County Comprehensive Plan: Protect the public health, safety, and welfare.
Proclaimed nationwide, Emergency Medical Service is a vital public service.
Manatee County Emergency Medical Services teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Emergency medical professionals provide medical care to victims of sudden, life-threatening injuries and illnesses, often under stressful conditions and in high-risk situations.
Emergency medical personnel also provide education, assessment, prevention, and referral services.
Members of EMS teams engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their life saving skills.
It is appropriate to recognize the value and accomplishments of EMS providers in Manatee County by designating the week of May 18-24, 2014, as Emergency Medical Services Week.
