Authorization to award Invitation for Bid 16-0212DS, Road Building Materials and Services, to multiple responsive, responsible bidders to provide materials, repair, and/or construction services on an as needed basis during the contract term as follows:

Background Discussion

The road building materials and services contract is an annual agreement with multiple contractors to achieve the speedy acquisition of both materials and services based upon lowest price and availability necessary to fulfill County needs on demand. The bid covers the acquisition of materials such as shell, aggregate, and asphalt and also pertains to the acquisition of services for minor road repair and resurfacing and other similar jobs valued at less than $200,000.00.

The term of the Agreement will be for three years commencing from date of award.  Provided that there are no changes in prices, terms, or conditions, blanket purchase orders shall be automatically extended beyond the initial thirty six  (36) month period for up to two additional twelve (12) month periods not to exceed sixty (60) months duration.

Competitive bid procedures were followed. Notice of Bid was advertised via DemandStar, mymanatee.org, and the Chamber of Commerce resulting in ten (10) bids.  On April 28, 2016, a memorandum was received from Public Works Department recommending award.
