Action Requested
  • Motion to approve adoption of Resolution R-13-041 confirming the authorization of the imposition and payment of the FY2012-2013 PILT upon certain property owned by the County's Utilities System, as previously approved and included in the FY2012-2013 Adopted Annual Budget.

Enabling/Regulating Authority
R-89-178 and subsequent resolutions authorizing payments in-lieu of taxes from the Utilities System to the General Fund.

Background Discussion
  • In 1989, the Board of County Commissioners initially authorized payments in-lieu of taxes (PILT) from the Utilities System to the County General Fund to reduce property taxes countywide;
  • Each year, the Board of County Commissioners adopt a resolution confirming the payments to be made for the year;
  • For the FY2012-2013 year the amount of PILT to the General Fund will be $3,340,167, as provided for in the Adopted budget.
